When you hire Jenn Racer…
“Jenn is an absolutely amazing doula! She is an extremely warm, welcoming woman who knows so much about birth and how to offer support. She was so kind and helpful during my labor and birth. She helped me to remain calm and keep my focus during contractions and also helped to calm my fears before labor. She even prayed with me as she knew my faith is very important to me. I would recommend her to anyone! She helped me to have the kind of birth I was hoping for. Thank you, Jenn!” * Amanda
" My wife and I decided to hire a doula to make our birth process as natural as possible even though we were planning to deliver in a hospital. Our birth experience with Jennifer was even better than we had imagined. My wife's labor was short and intense, and with Jennifer's help, occurred almost entirely in our home. Jennifer was empathetic, calm and extremely professional. She calmed my wife over the phone during the early stages, and came to our house as soon as we requested it. Her voice was able to relax my wife to the point where she could focus on her breathing. Jennifer's emphasis was on trusting my wife's body and addressing her needs. Our baby girl was born 45 minutes after we arrived in the hospital, with almost no medical interference. We would certainly consider hiring Jennifer again and have already recommended her to other expecting mothers.” * Joe (& Helina)
Natalie - If you are ever so blessed as to be able to have a doula, you would be doubly blessed to have Jenn as your doula.
What makes her set apart from many other doulas is that she bases her passion for this in Scripture. She sees pregnancy, birth, and postpartum as an integral part of society and does what she can to aide women through these phases.
Kristy - I have had the privilege of having Jenn as my doula for my last two births! She is incredibly helpful as you prepare for birth. After talking with her I felt more at ease and prepared for labor. She helped empower my husband with specific ways to encourage me through contractions. She didn’t overstep, but was supportive at the right moments. The nurses even wanted her information after my son’s birth because they were impressed by her care! With my daughter, I was only able to have her over the phone because of the COVID restrictions. Even over the phone, her care was invaluable! She helped calm me down when my water unexpectedly broke at home. I will forever remember that call. Jenn has one of the most calming and soothing voices - it’s truly a gift. We called multiple times throughout labor for advice, and she was able to give my husband things to do to help with the pain. I was having terrible back labor, and she helped give me stretches and positions to get baby girl to flip. She actually ended up flipping sometime before she was born! Jenn is an incredible doula, full of encouragement and wisdom. She was truly a great support to my husband and I. I highly recommend her!
Jessie - Even though I did not have Jenn as my doula, she was definitely someone whom I would seek for advice when I was concerned with something about my pregnancy/delivery, or when I just wanted another opinion regarding something after meeting with my midwife. She was very calm and easy to talk with. She always had much to say and you could tell that she had a lot of experience from supporting many labors and women during their pregnancies. It was comforting to know she supported and encouraged the natural labor I desired, so it was easy to seek her for advice. If I was to be pregnant again, I would not hesitate to have Jenn as my doula!
Erika - Jen and I attended church together and when I became pregnant with my second child I knew right away I wanted her present at the birth. Jen was extremely knowledgeable and a huge source of encouragement during our months of pregnancy. She prepared us for various situations (as birth is super unpredictable) which made me feel confident going into delivery. She arrived quickly after I was admitted and was with us the whole time. It was a rather quick delivery but Jen was so reassuring and such a calm presence during moments I did not feel calm. She knew my desire of wanting to go unmedicated and did everything she could to help me relax and let my body work. She took some precious pictures that I will forever cherish. One of the things I loved most was the documentation of the details of my daughters birth. It was such a whirlwind and I remember very little but reading Jen's notes were so special and brought so many things back to mind. Jen was great to check in postpartum and make sure both mommy and baby were doing well. One of the hardest things about moving was knowing Jen would not be at my 3rd birth. She truly is a gift to have present in such a vulnerable sacred space. I cannot recommend her enough!
Anna - I am currently pregnant with my third baby and after the past couple years I have started to question a lot about the way childbirth is handled at hospitals. I got to talk with Jenn and ask a bunch of questions because I'm just so unsure of what I want to do, whether it be hospital birth or homebirth. She helped me feel more confident by answering all of my questions and giving me clarity on the options I have. I felt much better after talking with her and even recommended my cousin (who is pregnant with her first baby) talk with her. I really appreciate Jenn taking the time out of her day just to talk me through my options and give me unbiased information on everything I wanted to know.
Dan & Mai - “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.” Psalm 127:3
The reality that our children are a gift of the Lord is absolutely true and wonderful! Nevertheless, this fact can sometimes be lost in the preparation and anticipation of the arrival of your little one. We experienced this with the birth of our second child, Abigail Grace. We were excited to be second time parents, going from one child (a boy) to our second child (a girl). It felt like we were starting all over, because we had to get clothes and items specific to our little girl. As we planned and prepared our son to meet his little sister, one thing I didn’t want to stress about was the support and care that my wife would need during this time. This is were Jennifer Racer services was a tremendous blessing to us. Although this was our second child, and the anxiety that first time parents experienced had past. Knowing you have an advocate and a support who is dedicated to your wife’s safe delivery and support adds a tremendous value to the labor and delivery process. I wanted my wife, Mai, to know that I would be there for her throughout the delivery process and my attention would be on her. While Jenn’s expertise and care would be dedicated to my wife. Needless to say, we were excited and felt prepared. Or did we? Well, it all changed in a blink of an eye. Abigail decided to come a week early, in the middle of the night as Mai fought off the contractions to get extra sleep in. I heard her groaning half sleeping, half awake. I woke up, timed her contractions and they were less than 3 minutes apart. I called Jenn immediately, explained the situation and she agreed that we should head to labor and delivery. We arrived 25 minutes later and it seemed as if our baby girl would be delivered at the check-in desk. Jenn arrived minutes later as the nurses took us to triage for Mai’s vitals. As the nurses prepared the labor and delivery room, Mai’s water broke while we were still in triage with no one to assist us. The hospital policy was that a doula cannot be with their patients while they’re in triage. I didn’t care at that point, I called Jenn and told her the baby was coming and there were no nurses around. She informed the front desk, and they let her in to join us in triage. Mai was quickly wheeled to the delivery room where what took place could only be described as an out-of-body experience. The nurses were frantically getting the room ready, paging the doctor, prepping the labor bed, the infant vital station etc. My dear wife was graciously screaming in pain and freaking out, while Jenn seemed to be as calm as a reflecting pond. One of the nurses grabbed my wife’s face and screamed “do you want to have this baby today? Then you’ll need to push!!!” I still cannot get the look of sheer panic on my wife’s face when she realized she was having a baby without an epidural, the screaming nurse and the peaceful tune of voice, and look on Jenn’s face. She gently turned Mai’s face towards her and said “Mai, Mai, I want you to look at me, and breathe. “Remember our sessions? Look at me and breathe with me.” The next moment the screaming nurse was back, “if you want to have this baby, you will need to push for 5 minutes, puuushhh” The entire ordeal, lasted 10-15 minutes from the time we left triage to the delivery room and it was all over. Our baby girl was here, healthy and beautiful! Jenn stayed by our side until we were taken to the recovery room. She was exceptional!!! Checked-in with the us to see how she could help, did post delivery home visits and check-in. She is a true professional who loves this work and it is evident by her care and devotion to her clients! We were sad that we couldn’t have Jenn by our side, when our third baby arrived early 2021. We would have gladly hired Jenn again, but was prevented due to the pandemic. We highly recommend Jenn’s services to our loved ones and friends! We hope you have the seem great experience that we had utilizing Jennifer Family Services!!!
In Love, Daniel and Mai T.
Joella - “Jenn is so down to earth and easy to talk to, as well as a great listener! She has a true concern for what's best for you but is also not afraid to make suggestions that she thinks may be helpful. She is faithful and trustworthy! I would not hesitate to recommend her to my friends!”
Charity – “I would highly recommend Jennifer Racer Family Services. While I haven’t had the pleasure of using Jenn as a doula yet, she has been so kind and helpful in explaining the role of a doula and the benefits of utilizing a doula during birth. We’ve had several conversations revolving around pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care which has made me feel more comfortable and at ease to go through those things in the future. Jenn provides up-to-date information and options in an unbiased manner. After talking with her, she made me feel comfortable to ask personal questions without judgement. Jenn helps empower women to make informed decisions, and she really advocates for her clients. I'm grateful for all the ways she listens, empathizes, educates, and supports women and families.”
Karen - My husband and I decided to hire Jenn as our doula during my first pregnancy because we wanted to go the non-medicated route and were unsure of what was ahead of us. Jenn came to our house prior to my due date to meet and discuss her role and she made it clear that she could be as involved (or not) as we needed her to be. We were impressed immediately and felt that hiring her was the best decision, if anything, to support my husband as well as me. She then visited a second time to discuss our wants and hopes for my delivery and this time she brought a few tools to demonstrate different positions and relaxation techniques that would help me in my labor. Again, when she left, we felt comfortable and confident in our decision. When my labor began, Jenn came to my house first (at our request) since we wanted to stay at home as long as possible. She took thorough notes, kept calm, and helped my husband help me through the process. We then decided to go to the hospital and once again she was with us every step of the way. She used massage techniques and positioning to help me and documented throughout the entire process - staff names, conversations, contractions, etc.. She stayed with us until a few hours after our son was born (almost 24 hours!) and then returned to our home about a week later for a postpartum visit to meet our baby again and to assist with breast feeding if needed. We reviewed her notes and discussed the outcome and had the opportunity to rehash the process since it all goes by in a blur. We highly recommend Jenn and we will no doubt reach out to her if we do have a second child. My husband and I agree that even if you are not attempting the non-medicated route having a doula is a good idea. The hospital staff, as wonderful as they are, are not designated to spend 1:1 time with you so having Jenn is a wonderful way to meet your needs, both physical and emotional.”
Eden –
Although I've never utilized Jennifer Racer as a doula for a birth, (due to the fact that I haven't given birth yet), I have had the pleasure of having multiple conversations with her surrounding the topics of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. Through those conversations, I've seen Jenn's passion for her field and the families she serves. I've also learned so much from Jennifer which has already made me more confident and comfortable with the thought of going through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in the future. Not only is Jennifer extremely knowledgeable about all things pertaining to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care, but she communicates the knowledge she has in an informative and down-to-earth manner. I would highly recommend her for any services you may need from pregnancy to postpartum. :)
Kelly - Working with Jennifer was amazing!! She was such a huge help to both me and my husband. She was able to provide us with very practical advice that helped make labor and delivery easier. Her encouragement and guidance helped us to remain calm and relaxed. It was such a pleasure and an honor to work with her. Jennifer was very supportive of all our decisions and helped us to understand different options we had in the process. She is an amazing doula!!!!
Tricia - Jenn is a wealth of knowledge and has ample resources to tap in to for guiding you to a birth provider. The birth center I used 9 years prior with my daughter had shuttered by the time I was pregnant with my son. I wanted a very flexible, mid-wife supported atmosphere but was going to need a C-section, so hospital admittance was a must. Within 24 hours she had a list of several providers who met all of my needs and I ended up using her #1 recommendation, Bay Area midwifery (AAMC) who gave me outstanding care.
Lindsay - I hired a doula to help me through the birth process naturally without a epidural and I wanted her to help me with the pain. My childbirth did not goes as planned i had a unexpected c-section and i forgot to call the doula and when i did she came right away before i went in for the c-section. Jennifer was a great support system for my husband and family in waiting room while i put to sleep for a c-section. Jennifer came in the recovery room and talked to me after the procedure and was very concerned and you could tell she really cared about me and my family. I would recommend her to other families for sure. If I were to have any more i would use her again. Even thou i was very disappointed that i was not able to go natural like planned, and she wasnt able to be in the delivery but my family really loved her and she calmed them down and helped them through the scary moment and thoughts. Thanks Jennifer you were great.
Emily - Jenn was such an asset during the postpartum period. She is available to help with whatever is most needed and helpful, and she does it with a go-with-the-flow, down-to-earth attitude that puts one right at ease. She is kind and helpful with older siblings. She is loving with the new baby, and I felt completely at ease leaving with the baby if I needed a shower or nap. She is a wonderful person to have available to discuss and process the birth experience with. It's so helpful having the listening ear of someone who makes you feel validated and has helpful and compassionate feedback. Having Jenn as a postpartum doula is so much more than a helping hand around the house or with the kids. She has a wealth of knowledge about birth, postpartum, baby care, breastfeeding, ect., but she also helps you to come to your own conclusions and supports you in what choices will best fit you and your family. Having someone like her around does wonders in the recovery period both physically and mentally.
Kait - Jenn provided such reassurance and positivity as I prepared to give birth, while we made decisions on birthing day, and afterwards as I managed having a baby and not knowing what I was doing with nursing. She was knowledgeable and considerate of my feelings and used helpful bible passages to keep my mind from wandering to negative places. I loved having her there for the birth of my first child and her continuous support in the years since!
Jenn F. - Jennifer is so supportive and kind! I love that she has been doula to all kinds of births. She is really THERE for both mom and dad. She has such a passion for serving in this precious stage of parenthood, and devotes a lot of time to learning and keeping up to date on the latest information to best serve her clients.
SARAH - “We had heard wonderful things about Jenn's doula expertise from a few friends and hired her as our doula in 2020. Little did we know there would be a pandemic that would change our plans as far as in person meetings and having her with us at the birth in the hospital. Jenn was creative and flexible when it came to switching meetings over to FaceTime and we felt prepared going into the birth, even without the training in person. I was hoping for a natural birth and Jenn gave us great resources for our birth plan and for ways to cope with pain during labor. One of the biggest helps was when we called her at 4 am, she was able to access when we needed to go to the hospital when my labor started to pick up. It would have been wonderful to have her at the hospital, but even over the phone a few times, Jenn was calm, able to access what was happening quickly, and gave great advice. We would definitely hire Jenn again. Having her as our doula took a lot of the fear out of the birth experience and we hope next time, she can be with us in person!”
Lauren - Jenn has been such a comfort to me during my pregnancies! She has such a calming spirit which is exactly what I need during labor! She truly takes time to listen to my fears, needs and hopes for birth. I also really appreciate that she included my husband so he feels ready and knows his job during labor as well. She even encourages me to think past birth and have a postpartum plan (most of my doctors don't even do that)! She has helped me feel very prepared and excited!
